Hunt Refining Deploys PeopleSoft® EnterpriseOne
Asset Lifecycle Management
Industry-Leading Software and Implementation Services Improve
Operational Visibilityand Increase Return on Capital Equipment
PLEASANTON, Calif., April 5, 2004-- PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:
PSFT) today announced that Hunt Refining Co., a leading distributor of
gasoline and distillate fuel, has deployed PeopleSoft® EnterpriseOne Asset
Lifecycle Management (ALM) to manage its 43,000-barrel-per-day refining
operation. The new solution enables the company to enhance operational
visibility, maximize its use of plant equipment, and reduce maintenance
costs. In addition, Hunt Refining selected PeopleSoft Global Services
and Performance Consulting Associates (PCA), a PeopleSoft partner, to
implement the ALM solution.
Hunt Refining distributes gasoline and distillate fuels, supplies home
heating oil and diesel fuel, and is a regional provider of both paving
and industrial grade asphalt. "Effective operation of our capital
equipment is critical to the profitability of our business," said
Mike Slaughter, maintenance manager at Hunt Refining. "With PeopleSoft
ALM, we are able to better track reliability issues, equipment costs,
and labor distribution, enabling us to identify areas of improvement.
As a result, we benefit from reduced labor costs, increased equipment
availability, improved job planning, and lower spare parts inventory."
Companies in asset-intensive industries such as mining, chemicals, pulp
and paper, primary metals, and energy rely on well-maintainedplant equipment
to maximize the production of products. Equipment failures can cause work
stoppages, backflow in production, and underutilized employee resources
while the equipment is being repaired. Industry leading solutions like
PeopleSoft ALM solve these issues by linking financial, operational, procurement
and inventory data to preventive maintenance and work order schedules.
Integrating these functions provides companies with greater visibility
into their plants and equipment maintenance schedules, resulting in more
efficient business operations.
"Effectively utilizing assets is the primary leverage point for asset-intensive
companies to improve financial performance," said Les Wyatt, general
manager for PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne. "Physical assets must perform
at peak levels to maximize equipment investments. PeopleSoft ALM delivers
the enterprise-wide visibility needed to acquire, manage, and maintain
equipment, providing companies with a positive return on capital expenditures."
To implement PeopleSoft ALM, Hunt Refining utilized PeopleSoft Performance
Plus, a pre-configured package of software and services combining PeopleSoft
ALM software and industry-specific asset management best practices from
PCA and PeopleSoft Global Services.
"Companies that leverage best practices to effectively manage the
lifecycle of their equipment can make critical improvements to their plant
performance," said Dick DeFazio, PCA President and CEO. "Using
the powerful combination of PeopleSoft's ALM software and services, PCA
consultants leverage our unique on-site plant assessment and process reengineering
methodologies to bring out significant value for customers."
